About Course

At its core, Agricultural Technology (Agric Tech) bridges the gap between traditional farming and modern science. It is designed to move agriculture away from manual, backbreaking labor into a highly productive, tech-driven business.

If you study this course, you are essentially learning how to use engineering, biology, and data to grow more food with fewer resources.

1. O’Level Requirements (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE)

You must possess at least four (4) credit passes obtained at not more than two sittings.

  •  4 Credits in English, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, and any one of Physics, Geography, or Economics.

  • 2. JAMB UTME Subject Combination

When registering for your JAMB exam, you must choose the correct four-subject combination. Selecting the wrong subjects can invalidate your admission even if you score highly.

    The required combination is:

  • Use of English, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, and either Mathematics or Physics.

    3. UTME Cut-Off Marks

While JAMB sets a general minimum baseline for polytechnics (typically around 100), our own institutions set their own specific merit targets based on competition:

Montgomery Polytechnic Ikere – Ekiti [MPI]: Frequently accept the baseline JAMB minimum of 100.
  • Graduates don’t just work on fields; the career options are quite diverse:

    1. Farm Managers / Supervisors: Overseeing large-scale commercial mechanized farms.

    2. Agrotech Entrepreneurs: Setting up automated greenhouses, hydroponic systems, or processing mills.

    3. Agricultural Extension Officers: Working with governments or NGOs to train rural communities on modern practices.

    4. Equipment Specialists: Marketing or maintaining specialized agricultural machinery.
